As part of London Design Festival 2026, Le Gist attended the presentation of The Point of Unity and Soul by Ukrainian artist and lighting designer Mykola Kabluka at St Paul’s Cathedral.
The two works bring contemporary light and media art into one of London’s most recognisable historic spaces, creating a dialogue between technology, architecture, light and human experience. Presented within the historic setting of St Paul’s, the audiovisual installation Soul and immersive light sculpture The Point of Unity invite visitors to experience the space in a completely different way. As night falls, the light spectacle across St Paul’s Cathedral creates a striking and unforgettable experience.
The Point of Unity
The Point of Unity makes its UK debut at St Paul’s Cathedral following its first presentation at Burning Man in 2025.
The immersive light sculpture explores ideas of human connection, presence, aspiration and action. Conceived as a meeting point between earth and sky, the spiritual and the material, the installation invites visitors to consider themselves as part of a larger, interconnected whole.
Its reflective surfaces interact with the surrounding environment, capturing the sky, clouds and people moving around it. As the light changes, so does the experience of the sculpture.
Soul
Alongside The Point of Unity, Soul transforms the façade of St Paul’s Cathedral through light, movement and sound.
The audiovisual installation explores the moment when an internal thought begins to take physical form. Rather than presenting one fixed image, the work creates constantly changing visual compositions, allowing light and space to become part of the experience.
Together, the two works create a striking contrast between the historic architecture of St Paul’s and contemporary media art.
London Design Festival
The London Design Festival 2026 takes place across the capital from 12–20 September, bringing together exhibitions, installations, talks and projects exploring different aspects of contemporary design.
The Point of Unity and Soul is presented at St Paul’s Cathedral until 26 September 2026. Soul runs from 8pm–11pm, while The Point of Unity is on view from 10am–11pm.
